Pictures from our trip to Moab, Utah
Just got back from a week in Moab. Here are some pictures.
Re: Pictures from our trip to Moab, Utah
Outstanding!
All great stuff!
Behind the rocks, Golden Spike, Moab Rim!
How was high dive? That looks crazy! Is that white knuckle too?
Was there any carnage? Those can be brutal trails.

Re: Pictures from our trip to Moab, Utah
High Dive is scary. I had done that before with The Hummer Club so we knew the line. Same thing with White Knuckle which is just as bad. We got a stock Alpha H3 up Escalator and Hell's Gate. Got an H2 up Hell's Gate too, which I have done a couple of times already. I was going to try Esclalator but I wanted Neo to spot me and he had ran Hell's Revenge the day before, plus I had a front half shaft boot leaking, so decided that was not the day for me to try it. Besides my half shaft leak, we had a H2 bust a stock tie rod on the steps on Moab Rim. There were a few high shelf climbs that we had to strap the H3 over, but did a great job overall. We all ran Potato Salad Hill too! The yellow H1 also did the Body Snatcher! We could not get the H3 up that.
We had to leave on Friday, so the rest of the group ran Cliff Hanger and the H3 busted a mirror, but I'm not sure where. Not much damage overall for the trip.
I got to drive Charles' H1 white truck on the Moab Rim steps! He is testing rear-wheel steering. It was very cool! He upgraded his half shafts and tried to break them all week but couldn't. That rig is amazing!
We had cloud coverage pretty much the entire week and a few sprinkles of rain here and there, so it stayed in the 80's. We where lucky to have lower than normal temps which made the trip more enjoyable. You just never know what June temperatures will be like and we knew we were taking a chance. It was a great week.

Beautiful mountains.
Good photos of dangerous extreme races in mountains.
Thanks for these photos.
Show other photos please.
We do not have such mountains, but look our races in mud.
Enjoy http://rushummer.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=2170

Yes, these trails are very difficult and you must be careful or you will get body damage or roll over.

Re: Pictures from our trip to Moab, Utah
I had forgotten about Charles 4 wheel steer mod -- it was a hot topic on the HML a year or so ago. Any pictures of it in action or some tight cornering? It's a mod I'd love to have myself, I'm tired of those 10 point turns!
nice pictures. Neo is great...haven't seen him in years.

Re: Pictures from our trip to Moab, Utah
Charles was the tail gunner and I was the trail lead. I kept telling him to wait to steer the rear until I got back there with the camera. Here is a bad picture that kind of shows the rear wheels turned so he did not have to back up. I have a lot of video that I downloaded to my laptop every night, but ironically, the day after we got back from Moab he left for Moscow and took the laptop with him, so he has all the video! When he returns next week I'll get them uploaded. There is one video I posted on the HML if you are a member there -- It's in this thread on page 4. He let me drive it up the steps on Moab Rim. That truck is a tank! http://www.hummernetworkforums.com/view ... 4&start=45
The rear steering is only bolted together right now and when he is happy with it he will weld it in place. He also had the 12,000 pound half-shafts and tried really hard to break one but couldn't. You know he also has the 2 wheel drive coupler on the front so he can go from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive. He sells that modification now. Don't know when the rear steering will be for sale though.
My next modification will be to upgrade the idler and pitman. I'm done replaceing those after every Moab trip.
